For Reconciliation Week 2021, we explore some of the most enduring, anthemic songs by Indigenous artists that have showed paths towards reconciliation.
Today, The Last Kinection's 2008 anthem 'Black & Deadly'.
In 2008, Newcastle-via-Cairns trio The Last Kinection burst onto the scene with their debut album Nutches.
Kabbi Kabbi brother and sister Joel and Nay Wenitong and DJ Jaytee, used music to talk about the everyday experiences of Indigenous people.

The song 'Black & Deadly' was inspired by a racist encounter Nay had at Brisbane Airport.
"This guy comes up and he said, ‘Hey, where are you from?’" she says.
"I said, Cairns, and he goes ‘Oh, don't buy a house in any of the suburbs starting with M because all the blah, blah, blah.’ And he's talking about blackfellas.
"I looked him dead in the eyes and I said, 'Where do you think I'm from?'"
Nay and Joel had been subject to racism for most of their lives, as they told the ABC's Message Stick in 2011.
"When detectives started following us to school, we thought that was a bit weird," Nay said.
"Someone robbed the bank up the road from us and they said they were Aboriginal so they came down our house and had guns to our head," Joel recalled.
Sydney rapper and Elefant Traks co-founder Urthboy says the unflinching honesty in their music makes The Last Kinection essential listening.
"They talk about the true nature of colonial Australia and the really detrimental effect that has had on Indigenous populations and Aboriginal people," he says. "The suffering that has gone across generations.
"That's a trauma that is a lived experience for Aboriginal people or Torres Strait Islanders."
That truth-telling has inspired other Indigenous hip-hop artists to do the same, like New South Wales South Coast rapper and Yuin man Nooky.
"As a youngster coming up, hearing tunes like that really gave you a sense of pride and really got you fired up to go out there and conquer things and whatnot," he says.
"So yeah, The Last Kinection are a big, big part of my legacy and a big inspiration. Still to this day."
