1: I don't think that I could kill another,
take another's life one way or other.
I don't think that I should be the one to say
who should live or die. Am I to try him?
Do I have the right to try deny him
of his right to life? For what guilt must he pay?
2: When I was a child, it did not matter,
if someone should die, whose blood was spattered.
Used to be that I had less regard for life.
Now that I have thought and asked and wondered,
why must any life be lost or plundered?
Why must any life be needlessly denied?
take another's life one way or other.
I don't think that I should be the one to say
who should live or die. Am I to try him?
Do I have the right to try deny him
of his right to life? For what guilt must he pay?
