Two pretty flags in the sunshine,
High over the Swilly they flew;
Green, white and gold on the first one,
The second was red, white and blue.
They danced in the breeze from the ocean,
Their innocence proving them free,
Playing like children who laugh in the sun,
That shines on the Guns of Dunree.
All the nations they stand for are brothers,
Love and hate litters their past;
Each one defending his honour,
Each one will fight to the last.
Why can't togetherness blossom?
Fly on the wind and be free?
Play like the children and laugh in the sun,
That shines on the guns of Dunree.
Two pretty flags in the sunshine,
High over the Swilly they flew;
Green, white and gold on the first one,
The second was red, white and blue.
So, let's stand together and blossom,
Let's fly on the wind and be free;
For we are the children who laugh in the sun,
And dance on the guns of Dunreeā¦
High over the Swilly they flew;
Green, white and gold on the first one,
The second was red, white and blue.
They danced in the breeze from the ocean,
Their innocence proving them free,
Playing like children who laugh in the sun,
That shines on the Guns of Dunree.
All the nations they stand for are brothers,
Love and hate litters their past;
Each one defending his honour,
Each one will fight to the last.
Why can't togetherness blossom?
Fly on the wind and be free?
Play like the children and laugh in the sun,
That shines on the guns of Dunree.
Two pretty flags in the sunshine,
High over the Swilly they flew;
Green, white and gold on the first one,
The second was red, white and blue.
So, let's stand together and blossom,
Let's fly on the wind and be free;
For we are the children who laugh in the sun,
And dance on the guns of Dunreeā¦

Lyrics and music by Raymond Wright
This song was written after visiting the Guns of Dunree Museum
on Donegal's Inishowen west coast on the shores of Lough Swilly. 'It is the only place in Ireland where I have seen the Irish tricolour flying alongside the Union Jack. There were some little children playing on the old guns and this inspired me to write the song.'
