Se si dovesse selezionare una frase, un giudizio, una “sentenza” comune a tutte le canzoni contro la guerra scritte e cantate, diciamo, negli ultimi tremila anni in ogni paese e in ogni lingua del mondo, questa è senz’altro: “Sembra scritta appena ieri”. Non passano mai di moda, le canzoni contro la guerra: riflettono considerazioni, osservazioni e meccanismi antichi quanto la Terra. Lo si potrebbe naturalmente dire anche per questa canzone olandese, scritta “soltanto” centocinque anni fa, quasi al termine della I guerra mondiale, la “Grande Guerra” che avrebbe dovuto, naturalmente, far finire tutte le altre. Certo, cambiano i nomi, ci son quelli di moda allora come Lloyd George e il Kaiser; ma la sostanza non cambia di una virgola.

Joke Kaviaar è un anarchico olandese e attivista No Border, scrittore, poeta, attore pluridenunciato e censurato nei Paesi Bassi. Assieme a Peter Storm forma il duo “Your Local Pirates”.
Lang is het stil geweest van piratenzijde. Te lang. Geen optredens, en geen nieuwe opnames ook . Maar onlangs was het weer zover: Joke verliet het noordereiland, voer naar het zuidereiland waar Peter haar opwachtte, en samen vertrokken ze naar de Tilburgse noordkust. Daar, op onze inmiddels vertrouwde open plek in de regenwouden, maakten Your Local Pirates weer samen muziek. Dat leidde tot een handvol nieuwe opnames. ‘De Staak’ is de eerste die we wereldkundig maken.
De Staak is een vertaling van ‘L’ Estaca’ van de Catalaanse zanger Luis Llach uit 1968. Het is een protestlied, waarbij de staak waaraan mensen vastgebonden zijn, de repressieve... (Continues)

Secondo il sito belga Wreed en Plezant (dal quale riprendo il testo, e che è un'autentica miniera di canzoni pacifiste e antimilitariste belghe in lingua neerlandese), il testo sarebbe stato pubblicato nel volume Volksche Oorlogsliederen verzameld door Leon Defraye (“Canzoni popolari di guerra raccolte da Leon Defraye”) e, a sua volta, in Marktliederen over de Groote Oorlog di Roger Hessel (2011). Con marktlied si indica, nella tradizione fiamminga, una canzone cantata da cantastorie o cantanti popolari durante fiere, mercati, ecc. Come autore della musica viene indicato “R. The song shows a number of variants in the lyrics, and some points are controversial in the lyrics available in the Web; btw, the lyrics shown in the video do not always match what it is really sung. Hoe is dit lied ontstaan? Waarschijnlijk hebben velen er aan bij gedragen waarbij het lied gedurende de oorlog evalueerde: aanvankelijk in 1914-1915 stond het bekend onder de naam “La chanson de Lorette”, het lied veranderde in de 2e slag om Champagne in 1916, en ook bij Verdun werd het lied al gezongen in een wat andere tekst.
De locatie waar het lied zijn definitieve vorm kreeg was het dorp Craonne op het plateau van Californie. Hier vonden de zeer bloedige gevechten plaats op 16 april 1917. Het zou deze slag geweest zijn die voor de Franse soldaten de druppel was die de emmer deed overlopen en de muiterij begon waarbij dit lied ook zijn definitieve naam kreeg: Chanson de Craonne.

Til ungdommen (Aan de jeugd), ook bekend als Kringsatt av fiender (Omringd door vijanden), is een gedicht van de Noorse dichter en journalist Nordahl Grieg (1 november 1902 - 2 december 1943). In 1936 werd de tekst geschreven op verzoek van de Noorse politicus Trond Hegna (1898 - 1992) ter gelegenheid van een feest van de Noorse studentenvereniging Det Norske Studentersamfund.
De tekst is gebaseerd op het uitbreken van de Spaanse Burgeroorlog in juli 1936. Het gedicht roept op tot een vreedzame reactie op het geweld dat Europa te wachten stond, maar vond in die tijd weinig weerklank. Het gedicht raakte niet in de vergetelheid en bleef populair, vooral in humanistische kringen. De Deense componist Otto Mortensen (1907-1986) voorzag in 1952 het gedicht van een melodie. Til ungdommen (Aan de jeugd), ook bekend als Kringsatt av fiender (Omringd door vijanden), is een gedicht van de Noorse dichter en journalist Nordahl Grieg (1 november 1902 - 2 december 1943). In 1936 werd de tekst geschreven op verzoek van de Noorse politicus Trond Hegna (1898 - 1992) ter gelegenheid van een feest van de Noorse studentenvereniging Det Norske Studentersamfund.
De tekst is gebaseerd op het uitbreken van de Spaanse Burgeroorlog in juli 1936. Het gedicht roept op tot een vreedzame reactie op het geweld dat Europa te wachten stond, maar vond in die tijd weinig weerklank. Het gedicht raakte niet in de vergetelheid en bleef populair, vooral in humanistische kringen. De Deense componist Otto Mortensen (1907-1986) voorzag in 1952 het gedicht van een melodie. La segnalazione di Flavio Poltronieri sull'esistenza della versione di Madou non solo mi ha fatto un enorme piacere, ma non è rimasta neppure inascoltata. Il testo di Jan Devos, in lingua neerlandese, è stato interpretato da Madou nell'album Madou/Madouce del 2005 e dev'essere senz'altro organico ad un album dove, sulle copertine recto/verso, si vede una ragazza che cade da una finestra in due modalità differenti. Flavio parlava di suggestioni nelle quali non si è mai soli: debbo dargli ragione. Il testo neerlandese di Jan Devos, pur cantato sulla musica di The Great Valerio, non è propriamente una "traduzione": è una canzone autonoma, ed è, soprattutto, la storia esatta, la descrizione della caduta mortale di Karl Wallenda. A tale riguardo mi è sembrato opportuno accompagnare il testo con una traduzione italiana. [RV]
