This song was written as a reaction to President Donald Trump’s temporary ban on refugees from several Muslim-majority countries entering the United States.

This marks the first song written and released by Sevdaliza in Farsi, her native language. According to an interview with Billboard, it only took her and Mucky, the producer, about 48 hours to create the song.

It was released on bandcamp.com and all donations will be immediately transferred towards funds that support victims of racial exclusion.

“Oh My God” is Dutch-Iranian, singer-songwriter Sevdaliza’s first release of 2020. Based on the announcement and explanation of the song that Sevdaliza shared to her Twitter, the song alludes to and reflects on the concurring tensions between the United States and Iran.

This song isn’t the first time that Sevdaliza has used music as a way to convey her message and opinions on cultural tensions between the United States and the Middle Eastern world— releasing the Persian-language single “Bebin” in 2017, as a response to President Donald Trump’s Muslim-directed travel ban, which included Iran among other countries.

Sevdaliza was born in Tehran, Iran and soon after relocated to the Netherlands where she grew up. However, her Iranian past and culture have still held a prominent presence in her music sonically and lyrically.

Una canzone sorella di Mediterráneo di Serrat sicuramente da riascoltare in questi tempi in cui il Mediterraneo è diventato la fossa comune di molti che hanno tentato di attraversarlo.

Alla fine la canzone riprende, in greco e in catalano, un'altra canzone dello stesso album "Lentament comença el cant" (precedentemente cantata solo in greco da Nena Venetsanou). Riportiamo qui insieme i due testi. La trascrizione del testo greco è di Riccardo Venturi.

Sotto il ponte alla Carraia, che è nel centro storico di Firenze, non ci passano né il Piave (quello che mormorava il 24 maggio 1915) né il Tagliamento; ci passa l'Arno, fin dal 1218 quando fu costruito per la prima volta sotto il nome di "Ponte Nuovo", perché fu il secondo ponte ad esser costruito sull'Arno a Firenze dopo il vecchio ponte romano. L'Arno, quindi, ci passava anche negli anni della “Grande Guerra”, vale a dire il periodo a cui deve risalire questa semplice strofa nella quale una donna fiorentina, una moglie, si rivolge al marito al fronte. Non si sa su quale musica fosse intonata, e nemmeno se una musica ce l'avesse per davvero. E' una strofa d'amore, ma estremamente pratica: nessuno sdilinquimento, nessun “soldato innamorato”, ma una dichiarazione di soccorso, di aiuto, di una moglie al marito. The tejano song "A la guerra ya me llevan" ("They're Taking Me to the War") (Buena Suerte Records # 929), narrated from the soldier's perspective, expressed opposition to being drafted to go to the war, leaning towards the anti-war side: "they're taking me against my will". Little Joe performed the song, a Mexican-American, born in Temple, Texas (17 October 1940), as José María De León Hernández. This political song helped established him as a major artist in the 1960s Chicano movement. He founded the record label Buena Suerte Records in 1968, based in Temple, TX. (1) (2) (3) The narration saw the soldier expressing sympathy towards his mother, father, and girlfriend, telling them that "if in combat I find death, I wouldn't want you to cry". The narrator also said that as he headed off to war, taken away from his family, he regretted fighting with his father. Note that Little Joe also released the Vietnam-related corrido El prisionero de Vietnam, with the group Little Joe & The Starlites.

For conspiring to kill a Nazi officer, the Germans sent Kulisiewicz's teenage half-sister Łucja to the Ravensbrück concentration camp in 1944. On learning of her imprisonment, Kulisiewicz wrote this ballad, a fantasy-compilation of childhood legends and folktales whose villains, heroes, and strange, twisting plots brought to mind aspects of his own experience of life in a concentration camp.
