(Continues)

Far scomparire un morto
[2008]
Testo di Paolo Donadoni
Musica di Graziano Nardini
Lyrics by Paolo Donadoni
Music by Graziano Nardini
Album: "Fino alla fine"

In guerra diventa facile uccidere.

Album: Break the Chains [2007]

Catherine Crystal Eastman – pacifist, socialist, suffragist and feminist. She had been active as a supporter of the radical International Workers of the World (I.W.W.). A brilliant, dynamic, indefatigable activist: She believed military establishments and wars defended business interests and threatened the values she most cherished. She came to Pittsburgh at the age of 26 in 1907. Graduate of Vassar with a Masters from Columbia University, she graduated second in her class at NYU Law School. Hired initially for two months by Paul Kellogg of the Pittsburgh Survey, she stayed more than a year investigating in depth and in detail the industrial accidents that occurred in Allegheny County during 1906-07. Her study of the county’s 526 workplace deaths in a single year analyzed the specific hazards of various occupations including... (Continues)

(Continues)

It's time for everyone to wake up and step up before our "leaders" trade our version of "freedom" and "democracy" for what they've sold to Iraq.

She details her harrowing tale of being victimized by "terror" a few minutes from where she lived on an hour long episode of the "Guns and Butter" radio show, including the fact that she was supposed to be on the 106th floor for a conference and would've been if she'd woken... La loi de 1920

La loi de 1920
[1966]

(Continues)

Follow the Drinking Gourd

Anonymous
Follow the Drinking Gourd
Follow the Drinking Gourd

(Continues)

Here We Go Again

Here We Go Again
[2003]
Lyrics & Music by Ethan Miller
Album: Rainy Day Record

This song was written at the beginning of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, as a lament for the onset of yet another cycle of suffering. It is about the "other" history of America, and of empires and nation-states in general – the painful history that lies beneath the romantic stories about freedom and liberty, patriotism, and "how noble it is to die for one’s country." The true heroes of history are those who fought not for God, Glory or Nation, but for peace, justice, and the dignity of all.
Here we go again, another bloody war

(Continues)

Child of A Fallen Soldier

[2005]
Album: Little Time/Somebody Over There

When I first started writing the songs for the SOMEBODY OVER THERE album, our conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan were very much a different story from what's happening now. Other than the soldiers of the 507th, whom we all got to know quite well, there weren't a lot of casualties. What we heard about in letters from "over there" was that the weather was too hot, there was never enough of anything to go around and tours of duty seemed to stretch on forever. Loved ones on both ends missed each other dearly.

Now, with the insurgency, hardly a day goes by we don't lose somebody over there. I felt that SOMEBODY OVER THERE should tell that part of the story also. I decided I wanted to tell it from the point of view of a child losing a parent, and to make the narrative make sense, I needed the soldier and the child to be of opposite sex. For the father-soldier/daughter... (Continues)

Iraq War Song (A Lesson)

Iraq War Song (A Lesson)
[2008]
Lyrics & Music by Murray Wilde
Album: Call of the Wilde

A song inspired by a true story of a U.S. soldier who left the army after witnessing atrocities during a two year tour of duty in Iraq. He has since joined the ranks of soldiers in the 'war resister' movement.

"A Lesson" is based on an actual account of a U.S. soldier whose experiences were reported in a local newspaper as well as in a public speaking engagement. At his request, I have kept his name anonymous. He has since joined the ranks of an ever-expanding league of soldiers in the 'war resister' movement, whose fight is now for truth, justice, freedom and peace.

"From World War I to Korea and Vietnam, presidents have lied to the American people because they believed that if the public knew the truth, they would not support the move for war. The track record of the U.S. news media in the 20th century is one of... (Continues)

It seems like politicians are so eager to endorse 'torture' these days!!! 'Just a little bit of torture' they say...I can't fucking imagine!!!
Hammond’s...nothing like 'em! double tracking the Hammond was just what this song needed to give it a dark quality.
For today, I'm keeping it simple, mainly to bring out the lyric (also because I'm lazy) but I'll be adding on to this no doubt.
I like the idea of manipulating some samples to enhance the 'torture' topic...But when this song is performed live it'll sound a lot like this!
