Welterusten, mijnheer de president

BUON RIPOSO, SIGNOR PRESIDENTE Buon riposo, signor Presidente. | GOOD NIGHT, MR PRESIDENT Mister president, good night Sleep tight in your pretty White House Don't think too much about those distant coasts Where your boys are, far away from home Especially don't think about those forty-six deaths That mistake with the bombardment And forget the fourth of the Ten Commandments which you, as good christian, will certainly know Don't think about all those young front-soldiers Dying lonely in the distant tropics night Let those pale clique of pacifists talk Mister president, sleep tight Dream of victory and triumph Dream of your pretty peace-ideal Which has never been obtained by bloody murders Dream that you will succeed this time Don't think of all those people who perish How many women, how many children have been killed Dream that you will succeed And don't believe a word of all the opposition Bayonets with bloody handles Stand guard on your order, far away from here For the glory and honour of the free west Mister president, sleep tight Don't get too scared when in your dreams You see all those innocent people That died there at the fighting And ask you how long this has to go on And you must know by now That there are people who are sick of the violence Who won't forget the blood and the misery And for who a human life still counts Don't dream too much of all those dead people Dream nicely of your victory and might Don't think of all those wishes for peace Mister president, sleep tight |
