| فسانه ایست ز رویای بیکرانه من | the tale is from my boundless dreams |
| مپرس عشق که الهامبخش چامه توست | do not ask love because its inspiration is in your verse |
| به یاد مرگ بود حرف عاشقانه من | my amorous words hark back to death |
| به پای گلبن امید رود خواهم گشت | the river shall flow at the foot of hope’s flower vines |
| که کار ساز نشد اشک دانه دانه من | the music does not play to the rhythm of my teardrops |
| اگر چه دختر شهر قصیده و غزلم | even if I am a daughter from the city of odes and sonnets |
| خراب و خام بود شعر ناشیانه من | ill and naive were my untried poems |
| نهال خود سر من دست باغبان نشناخت | my abandoned seedlings did not feel the gardener’s touch |
| مخواه جلوه بسیار از جوانه من | don’t expect much from my flowerets |
