نفسهاشان سراب آغشته، سوزان	Their breath burning, mirage-mingled
کامها خشک و غبار اندود	Mouths dry and caked with dust
اینجا می‌رسند از راه، اینک	They're coming in from the road, now
دخترانی درد پرور، پیکر آزرده	Tormented-bodied, girls brought up on pain
نشاط از چهره‌ها شان رخت بسته	Joy departed from their faces
قلبها پیر و ترکخورده	Hearts old and lined with cracks
نه در قاموس لبهاشان تبسم نقش می‌بندد	No smile appears on the bleak oceans of their lips
نه حتی قطره اشکی می‌زند از خشکرود چشمشان بیرون	Not a tear springs from the dry riverbeds of their eyes
خداوندا!	O God!
ندانم می‌رسد فریاد بی آوای شان تا ابر	Might I not know if their voiceless cries reach the clouds,
