il nostro dolore non si dice non si scrive la nostra pena | Our pain can not be told, our grief can not be written down. |
| |
Grecità grecità mai più ti placherai | Romiosyni, Romiosyni,[2] there is no rest for you |
in pace vivi un anno e trenta nelle fiamme | one year you live in peace, and thirty in the fire |
Grecità grecità mai più ti placherai | Romiosyni, Romiosyni, there is no rest for you |
in pace vivi un anno e trenta nelle fiamme…. | one year you live in peace, and thirty in the fire… |
| |
Smirne è perduta, madre, se ne vanno i nostri sogni | Smyrna, mother dear, is burning, our dreams are done. |

Grecità grecità mai più ti placherai | Romiosyni, Romiosyni, there is no rest for you |
in pace vivi un anno e trenta nelle fiamme | one year you live in peace, and thirty in the fire |
Grecità grecità mai più ti placherai | Romiosyni, Romiosyni, there is no rest for you |
in pace vivi un anno e trenta nelle fiamme… | one year you live in peace, and thirty in the fire…. |
