* Il riferimento è ovviamente alle torture di Abu Ghraib. Ma bisognerebbe ricordare anche analoghe foto di fili elettrici attaccati ai genitali di prigionieri dai nostri italianissimi, bravagentissimi "soldati di pace", alcuni anni fa in Somalia. Tutti parà di stanza a Livorno.
** In slang, "monkey cage" è la galera. Da tenere presente però che "monkey" (scimmia) ha una vasta gamma di accezioni gergali. "Monkey suit" o "monkey clothes" è ad esempio la "divisa militare", l' "uniforme".
*** "Playing hanky-panky" viene definito anodinamente come "esercitare attività sessuale". Ho preferito essere un po' meno "angelico" nella traduzione.
