Das Blutgericht

BLOODY JUSTICE | KRWAWY SĄD |
The justice to us weavers dealt | Straszliwszy tutaj mamy sąd |
Is bloody, cruel, and hateful; | Niż ten co dusił skrycie |
Our life's one torture, long drawn out: | Wyroku nie ogłoszą nam, |
For Lynch law we'd be grateful. | Gdy zabrać idą życie |
Stretched on the rack day after day, | W tortury koło wplecion człek |
Heart sick and bodies aching, | Na cały żywot męki, |
Our heavy sighs their witness bear | Świadkami są rozpaczy łzy |
To spirit slowly breaking. | I ustawiczne jęki. |
The Zwanzigers true hangmen are, | Katami Zwanzigery są, |
Servants no whit behind them; | A służba ich — żołdacy, |
Masters and men with one accord | Do spółki ciągną skórę z nas, |
Set on the poor to grind them. | Owoce kradną pracy. |
You villains all, you brood of hell... | Nasienie czarta, łotry wy. |
You fiends in fashion human, | Na nasze tu męczeństwo |
A curse will fall on all like you, | Żyjecie, pasy łupiąc z nas; |
Who prey on man and woman. | Przekleństwo wam, przekleństwo! |
The suppliant knows he asks in vain, | Daremna rozpacz, skargi, łzy, |
Vain every word that's spoken. | Odpowiedź jedną słychać: |
"If not content, then go and starve-- | Jak to się nie podoba wam, |
Our rules cannot be broken." | To idźcie z głodu zdychać |
Then think of all our woe and want, | Pomyślcie, jaki straszny los |
O ye, who hear this ditty! | Ten biedny naród gniecie, |
Our struggle vain for daily bread | Kruszynki chleba w domu brak, |
Hard hearts would move to pity. | Litości nie czujecie? |
But pity's what you've never known-- | Ha! litość u tych katów tam, |
You'd take both skin and clothing, | Szukacie w nich litości? |
You cannibals, whose cruel deeds | Ich cel my znamy : zedrzeć z nas |
Fill all good men with loathing. | Łachmany, skórę, kości! |
