KRÁL A KLAUN

Král do boje táh
do veliké dálky
a s ním do té války
jel na mezku klaun
Než hledí si stáh
tak z výrazu tváře
bys nepoznal lháře
co zakrývá strach

Tiše šeptal při té hrůze
Inter arma silent Musae
Místo zvonku cinkal brněním
Král do boje táh
do veliké dálky
a s ním do té války
jel na mezku klaun

Král do boje táh
a sotva se vzdálil
tak vesnice pálil
a dobýval měst
Klaun v očích měl hněv
když sledoval žháře
jak smývali v páře
prach z rukou a krev
Tiše šeptal při té hrůze
Inter arma silent Musae
Místo loutny držel v ruce meč

Král do boje táh
a sotva se vzdálil
tak vesnice pálil
a dobýval měst
Král do boje táh
s tou vraždící lůzou
Klaun třásl se hrůzou
a odvetu kul

Když v noci byl klid
tak oklamal stráže
a nemaje páže
sám burcoval lid

Všude křičel do té hrůzy
ve válce že mlčí Múzy
Muži by však mlčet neměli
Král do boje táh
s tou vraždící lůzou
Klaun třásl se hrůzou
a odvetu kul

Král do boje táh
a v červáncích vlídných
zřel na čele bídných
jak vstříc jde mu klaun
Když západ pak vzplál
tok potoků temněl
Klaun tušení neměl
jak zahynul král

Kdekdo křičel při té hrůze
Inter arma silent Musae
Krále z toho strachu trefil šlak
Klaun tiše se smál
a zem žila dále
a neměla krále
Klaun na loutnu hrál
Klaun na loutnu hrál
THE KING AND THE FOOL

A King rode to war
to a far distant region
and along with his legions
he brought a fool on a mule
And 'neath the helm that he wore
and his battle attire
you would not notice a liar
who hides away all his fear
So many whispered when the terror worsened
Inter arma silent musae
and his armor rang out louder than a bell
A king road to war
to a far distant region
and along with his legions
he brought a fool on a mule

A king rode to war
and he pillaged and plundered
every village down yonder
and conquered each town
the fools eyes filled with rage
as he glanced at the slayers
wash their hands for their prayers
from all the blood and the soot
so many whispered as the terror worsened
inter arma silent musae
He spurned his harp for a mighty sword
A king rode to war
and he pillaged and plundered
every village down yonded
and he conquered each town

A king rode to war
with his murderous vermin
the fool pondered a sermon
as he tremble from horror
and when the evening was calm
then he baffled the soldiers
and claimed a task on his shoulders
to stir up the thongs
He cried out in the realm violence
in war the muses keep their silence
but men should never leave their words retained
A king rode to war
with his murderous vermin
the fool pondered a sermon
as he trembled from horror

A king rode to war
and from that twilight once taken
he saw the damned and forsaken
coming lead by the fool
and when the west set ablaze
and the streams slowly darkened
the fool never hearkened
to how the king died that day
So many shouted when the terror worsened
inter arma silent musae
the king insane just simply died of shock
The fool sang from his heart
and the land live for ages
without kings and their pages
the fool played his old harp
the fool played his old harp
