OriginalVersione portoghese della poesia di Nâzim Hikmet, di Rui Caeiro ...
I COME AND STAND AT EVERY DOORA MENINA
I come and stand at every door
But no one hears my silent tread
I knock and yet remain unseen
For I am dead, for I am dead.
Sou eu que bato às portas
às portas, umas após outras.
Sou invisível aos vossos olhos.
Os mortos são invisíveis.
I'm only seven although I died
In Hiroshima long ago
I'm seven now as I was then
When children die they do not grow.
Morta em Hiroxima
há mais de dez anos,
sou uma menina de sete anos.
As crianças mortas não crescem.
My hair was scorched by swirling flame
My eyes grew dim, my eyes grew blind
Death came and turned my bones to dust
And that was scattered by the wind.
Primeiro arderam os meus cabelos,
também os olhos arderam, ficaram calcinados.
Num instante fiquei reduzida a um punhado de cinzas
que se espalharam ao vento.
I need no fruit, I need no rice
I need no sweet, nor even bread
I ask for nothing for myself
For I am dead, for I am dead.
No que diz respeito a mim,
nada vos imploro:
não podia comer, nem sequer bombons,
a criança que ardeu como papel.
All that I ask is that for peace
You fight today, you fight today
So that the children of this world
May live and grow and laugh and play.
Bato à vossa porta, tio, tia:
uma assinatura. Não matem as crianças
e deixem-nas também comer bombons.
