Truth Half Diminished

Erik Burch
Language: English

About truth being the first casualty of war.
My feelings after being deployed again to Iraq.
I waited for the news of the latest war dead
Missing in action from what I read
Forgotten, gone, destroyed in a blast
First out on the line, Truth had passed

Invention of a tyrant, bold and perverse
Authority as truth, rather than the reverse
So, where is the outrage? So hard to dismiss!
Cruel and unusual, but not like this!

Honor gone, silently grieving
Defying all logic, blindly believing,

My truth, my liberty, you will be missed
Cease and desist, then cease to exist
So, where is the outrage? So hard to dismiss!
Cruel and unusual, but not like this!

Dead to us, still, truth remains
Unseen to the mind with no visible chains

In the wicked web, half the truth lies
As we believe the absurd so we commit the disguise
Made it a desert , called it peace at last!
But there could be no release, for truth had passed
