Eric's newest song, 'Peaceful Earth', is about the tranquil, hopeful view of Earth seen by astronauts from space, contrasted with the hopelessness too often felt below.
It's a peaceful Earth tonight,
From this distance everything looks right.
When you see the world from outer space, it's a peaceful place.

It's a peaceful Earth tonight,
Streaks of blue against a swirl of white
Cities glowing in majestic light, it's a peaceful sight.

Standing on this distant shore
I hear a mighty ocean roar
Feel the starlight touch my face,
Caught in waves of time and space
And everything's as it should be,
Can't you see?

You know the world is hard, always in my face
All I know about life is from this place.
I'm pushed to the floor, the world just tore
My heart apart, and I don't care no more.
I'm CRUSHED by war, and hate and fear
If there's good in this life, I don't see it here, no I don't see it here.

It's a peaceful Earth I know,
Wish it felt like that from down below.
But if there's poverty or hate and fear, I don't see it here.

It's a peaceful Earth tonight,
From this distance everything looks right.
How I wish they all could feel like this; it's a peaceful wish.
