Hei! Guarda quell’aereo
che sta per partire
per l’Afghanistan
Sembra la macchina del tempo,
in sole poche ore
ti trasporterà
lontano,
verso il passato,
fino a mille anni fa.
Sembra un film di fantascienza,
ma non è sicuro
che ti piacerà.
Sembra il nostro medioevo,
ma non è finzione,
questa è la realtà.
Questa
è l’alba del duemila
in Afghanistan.

Nono reggimento di soldati italiani
nell’inferno di Kabul.
Strumento di aggressione o missione di pace cos’è,
decidilo tu.

Hei! Guarda quei ragazzi
bene equipaggiati,
che stanno per andare.
E altri bene addestrati
a recitare slogan

A PLANE FOR AFGHANISTAN

Hey! Look at that plane
that is leaving
for Afghanistan.
It looks like a time machine
just in a few hours
it will transport you
far away,
into the past,
up to a thousand years ago.
It looks like a science fiction movie,
but it’s not sure
you will like it.
It looks like our middle Ages,
but it’s not fiction,
this is reality.
This
is the dawn of the millennium
in Afghanistan.

Ninth regiment of Italian soldiers
in the hell of Kabul.
Instrument of aggression or mission of peace
which one, you decide.
You who every evening look for new emotions in the show of the TV news
or you who stage revolution in the theatre of a community centre.

Hey! Look at those
well equipped boys,
who are leaving.
And other boys well trained
in reciting slogans
to make them come back again.
Who
is holding the wires,
who makes them dance?

Ninth regiment of Italian soldiers
in the hell of Kabul.
Instrument of aggression or mission of peace
which one, you decide.
You who every evening look for new emotions in the show of the TV news
or you who stage revolution in the theatre of a community centre.

Ninth regiment of Italian soldiers
in the hell of Kabul.
Instrument of aggression or mission of peace
which one, you decide.
You who know your mind explain to him who is confused
what he’s up to.
In the name of wich fault or wich ideal he runs the risk to be killed.
