[1966]

June the 6th 1966
They shot James Meredith down just like a dog
Mr. President I wonder what are you gonna do know?
I don't believe you're gonna do nothing at all

He was marching to Mississippi
Lead my peoples what he thought was right
Last I heard of my boy James Meredith
Some evil man shot to take his life

I was looking at Dick Gregory this morning
He said I had to take a plane
The newspaper man asked what do you think you gonna prove
He said I'm gonna lead these people just like James Meredith do

Last verse should read:

I was looking at Dick Gregory this morning
He said I had to take a plane
The newspaper man asked what do you think you gonna prove
He said I'm gonna lead these people just like James Meredith do
