Originally from Wales, as a child Al' moved to Liverpool and settled there for many years where he found his passion for music. He later moved to the other side of the Mersey and set up home in the small seaside town of Hoylake, where he resides to this day.

It was in Liverpool and Hoylake that Al' developed into a much respected Blues musician. From his first Liverpool band in 1964 'The Almost Blues' to his current solo act 'The Bluesman' he has been a member of many great bands such as 'Supercharge' and '29th & Dearborn' playing various styles from blues to funk. Al' even started a band with Mick Hucknall of 'Simply Red' called 'The Lawnmower' in 1982.

Later he branched out from just performing and set up his own recording studio, 'Square One Studios' from 1980- 87 during which time he went on to perform with and manage, then Liverpool poet, Craig Charles (Red Dwarf, Robot Wars).

Al to this day performs regularly at venues across the country and continues to release tracks on CD and Mp3 under his home grown label 'Groovin' Records'.
