Peragallo studied in Rome with DiDonato and Alfredo Casella. His earliest works are in the veristic style. After 1945 he began to compose in the dodecaphonic style, influenced by Schoenberg. He was the Artistic Director of the Accademia Filarmonica (Rome) from 1950-1954. In 1960 he became President of the Societa Italiana di Musica Contemporanea. He gave up composing in the 60's and 70's, but returned in 1980 with Emircal, a work in memory of Luigi Dallapiccola. In addition, he composed concerti, quartets, chorales and motets.

Peragallo a étudié à Rome avec DiDonato et Alfredo Casella. son travaille est au début dans le style de veristique. Après 1945 il a commencé à composer dans le style de dodecaphonique, influencé par Schoenberg. Il fut le Directeur Artistique de l'Accademia Filarmonica de Rome entre 1950 et 1954. En 1960 il est devenu le Président de la Societa Italiana di Musica Contemporanea. Il a renoncé à de composer dans les années 60 et 70, mais recommencé en 1980 avec Emircal, un travail en la mémoire de Luigi Dallapiccola. En plus, il a composé de concertos, des quatuors, des chorales et des motets.
