Basta un muro, un muro qualsiasi oppure il Muro che divide una città o una terra. Un muro, dei colori, la fantasia, la voglia di lottare e di non starci. La voglia di dire, di disegnare, di esprimersi. Il muro, nella sua estrema simbolicità sia di chiusura che di visibilità, è rimasto forse l'ultimo baluardo per la vera libera espressione; anche per questo le “autorità” vogliono sempre muri puliti, in nome di un “decoro” che ha, quasi sempre, dell'indecoroso. E lo cancellano quel che c'è scritto o disegnato sui muri, credendo così di cancellare la libertà. Che siano i sindaci-sceriffi delle nostre città, o le autorità di uno stato repressivo e invasore, o semplicemente il “bravo cittadino” che vuole tutto bello bianco il suo muricciolo. Proprio per questo, per questa pagina speciale che segna la CCG n° 9000, abbiamo voluto presentare una breve silloge di murales, disegni, writings o semplici scritte, provenienti da tutto il mondo. Dalla scuola elementare ai muri di Berlino e di Palestina, dall'ultimo muro diroccato in una periferia al capolavoro artistico di Diego de Rivera. In questo modo i muri vengono ricondotti a supporto di libertà che vince la paura e la repressione.
A wall iks sufficient, be it an ordinary wall or the Wall dividing a town or a country. A wall, some colors, phantasy and one's will of struggling and resisting. The will of saying, drawing, expressing. The wall, symbolizing closure and visibility at the same time, is maybe all what is left to us as last defence for true free expression; also for this reason, the “authorities” always want clean walls in the name of a “respectableness” that should not deserve respect. So, they erase what is written, drawn or painted on walls and believe this way to erase freedom, whether they are the “sheriff mayors” of our cities, the authorities of an oppressing state or, simply, the “respectable citizen” who wants his/her nice wall to be clean and whitened. Also for this reason we have chosen for this special page marking the AWS nr 9000 a short anthology of murals, wall drawings, writings or simple slogans coming from all over the world. From the primary school up to Berlins and Palestine walls, from the last crumbling wall in a suburb up to Diego de Rivera's art masterpiece. This way, walls turn again into a support for freedom, overcoming fear and repression. [CCG/AWS Staff]
