BORN: December 8, 1966, Dublin, Ireland

Sinéad O'Connor has been a revolutionary force in popular music for more than a decade and now, Atlantic Records is proud to release an extraordinary new work from the acclaimed and always outspoken artist. faith and courage - O'Connor's highly anticipated label debut and first all new, full-length album in six years - is a strikingly expressive collection of songs that traverse the human experience, touching on such universals as love and lust, respect and responsibility, strength and spirit.

From the anthemic self-determination of the album's first single, "No Man's Woman," to the evocative and poignant "Daddy I'm Fine," O'Connor blends edgy pop, sepulchral dub, space-age electronica, and street-smart R&B into her own special sonic brew. Sinéad is an artist who has always avoided being been trapped by musical boundaries and on faith and courage she is assisted in her musical journey by a breath-taking lineup of producer/artists, including Eurythmics' Dave Stewart; Brian Eno and John Reynolds; Wyclef Jean; On U Sound's Adrian Sherwood and Skip MacDonald; Marius deVries (Madonna, Björk) and Ashtar Command; Ednaswap's Scott Cutler and Ann Preven; and Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs (Mariah Carey, TLC, Destiny's Child). With O'Connor's magnificent voice and vision ringing clearly throughout, faith and courage is as vibrant, passionate, and unique as the woman whose name it bears.

Sinéad O'Connor made her debut in 1987 with the RIAA-gold certified THE LION AND THE COBRA, followed in 1990 by the #1 US/UK smash, I DO NOT WANT WHAT I HAVEN'T GOT. The RIAA double platinum album - which included the platinum-certified smash recording of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U" - appeared on numerous critics' best-of-the-year lists, and in early 1991, Sinead was named "Artist of the Year" by Rolling Stone (whose cover she has graced on three separate occasions). Her rich catalog also includes 1992's AM I NOT YOUR GIRL?, 1994's UNIVERSAL MOTHER, the 1997 GOSPEL OAK EP, and 1997's "Best Of" collection, entitled SO FAR.
