Rubén Ortiz Fernandez (1933-2020).
Born in Mexico City was an architect and a musician. In the sixties became a founding member of the group "Los Folkloristas" that researched, promoted and played all sorts of Latin American folk music of indigenous, African and Iberian roots. He contributed mainly with his expertise of son jalisciense. He was a friend of Salvador "El Negro Ojeda", Daniel Viglietti, Atahualpa Yupanqui, the group Inti Illimani and Victor Jara among others. He wrote "La Zamba del Ché" in 1967 that Victor Jara made famous with his version. His passion for classical music led him to be a commentator for “Radio Educación” in Mexico.
