PigalleFrench band Pigalle, best known for its hit single "Dans la Sale du Bar-Tabac de la Rue des Martyrs," was one of François Hadji-Lazaro's two alternative outfits in the 80s.
Less punk-oriented than its parallel project Les Garçons Bouchers, Pigalle offered a warm mix of pop, rock, and traditional influences. "Hadji-Lazaro" ended Pigalle in the late '90s, after four studio albums (1986's Pigalle, 1990s Regards Affligés Sur la Morne et Pitoyable Existence de BenjaminTrembley, Personage Fâlot Mais ô Combien Attachant, 1993's Rire et Pleurer and 1997's Alors), and one live LP (1992's Pigallive). In 2007, though, a reunion was announced and delivered with the release of a double-CD compilation comprised of major singles, outtakes, and six previously unreleased tracks.
