Transcript from an Interview with Nick Masters
Hello everyone, This is Nick Masters of Reflections of Sound. Just wanted to let you know all songs available for free download and are consistently updated. If you've listen to the music, like it, hate it and especially have downloaded it, leave some feed back. I'd love to hear what you have to say. Don't be afraid.
I'm Nick Masters and Reflections of Sound is my band or music project or whatever you wanna call it. I began playing the guitar when I was fifteen years old and started writing music about three years after that. I originally started writing music as a way to express myself, but over time I got a good response from friends, family and the general public and decided to call myself a musician. I never meant to go in this direction with music, it just kinda happened, and here I am now.

Besides making music what do you do with you free time?

I play a lot of ice hockey, despite the fact that I live in south Florida. I clean, I know that doesn't sound like an activity. But I do it so much that I make it onto one. Besides that, I watch movies, read, and write.

Who is your favorite band or artists?

Let's see, I would say my favorite band is Silverchair. Followed by (believe it or not) Hanson.

What is your favorite song and why?

I have a new favorite song all the time, it's just whatever I'm into at the moment but my favorite song of all time though is "Stand by Me" because it's such a basic love song and it get's its point across while still sounding great.

What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?

I would classify my genre as "campfire music" by that doesn't exist. So I'd just say it Alternative/Acoustic/Pop/Rock. My biggest influence is life and the things that happen to me in it. Music influences are Hanson, Elton John, Damien Rice, Josiah Leming, Jeff Buckley, Michael Jackson, Paul Geller, 2am Orchestra, Secret Chord, Secret French Kissing Society, Saves the Day and Silverchair.

How long have you known each member of your band? How did you meet?

Well I had a drummer (Chalan) for a while but he's busy with life so he doesn't play out anymore. We met through a mutual friend on the way to Sebastian Beach to go surfing.

Which songs do you perform most frequently? Do you ever play any covers? Do you have a set play list?

The three I play the most are She Wanders, Your Crystal ball and the Front Porch. I don't like to play covers, I do from time to time but it's rare, they're usually requests. I don't have a set play list. I Just go by the mood of the crowd and play think they'll like.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs? Do you think these topics will change over time?

I write my music, The main themes are love and love lost. Most of the time the songs are about a specific girl and events from that time period. I'm sure the topics will change over time, but I think the songs will always have meaning. That's the kinda music I like so it's what I make. Music with heart.

Could you briefly describe the music-writing process?

Well I'm against forcing myself to write music. I usually write a song every couple months. Life just happens and I feel like writing, I also almost always write a second song a few days after the first. I don't know, why It just always happens.

What are your rehearsals generally like? Do you have a set time each week in which you practice or are rehearsals more spontaneous?

I don't rehearse cause I'm awesome. No. But honestly, my music is so simple to play and sing that you don't' need to rehearse it. Every so often I'll take a day to play all my music just so I don't forget it. Which is annoying but I have to cause I have over fifty song's.

How has your music evolved since you first began playing music together?

Well, when I first started playing it really sucked. Now it just doesn't suck so bad. Hopefully one day it will actually be good.

What is your ultimate direction for your band? Are you seeking fame and fortune?

I love it when people tell me they're going through a tough time in life and they hear one of my songs it just says it all to them. As for fame and fortune, I'd like to live comfortably but I don't want to be stalked getting off a plane at the airport or when I'm getting coffee.

How can fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a CD?

I have a MySpace Music profile http://www.myspace.com/reflectionsofsound there's ten song on there. Hopefully I'll have a CD someday that you can buy at the store or pirate offline. LOL. But if you have one of my demo's don't be afraid to burn it and spread the love!
