Dagmar Hilarová was born in 1928 in Prague, from where, in 1943, she was taken to Terezin in the CV-190 transport. Following her liberation and her return to Prague, she devoted herself to writing. “Máj 1945” was written in her native Czech during her imprisonment at Terezin.
