Any Colour You Like

Any Colour You Like
Musica di David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Richard Wright (1973)
da "The Dark Side of the Moon"
Parole di Roger Waters (2023)
da "The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux"

(continua)

Money

La nuova versione di Roger Waters da The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux (2023)
Money

Us And Them

Us And Them
When we recorded the stripped down songs for the Lockdown Sessions, the 50th anniversary of the release of Dark Side of The Moon was looming on the horizon. It occurred to to me that Dark Side of the Moon could well be a suitable candidate for a similar re-working, partly as a tribute to the original work, but also to re-address the political and emotional message of the whole album. I discussed it with Gus and Sean, and when we'd stopped giggling and shouting 'You must be fucking mad' at one another we decided to take it on. We are now in the process of finishing the final mix. It's turned out really great and I'm excited for everyone to hear it. It's not a replacement for the original which, obviously, is irreplaceable. But it is a way for the seventy nine year old man to look back across the intervening fifty years into the eyes of the twenty nine year old and say, to quote a poem of... (continua)

The Most Beautiful Girl

The Most Beautiful Girl
2017
Is This the Life We Really Want?

This song dates back to the early 2000s.

Roger Waters told Uncut:

"I recorded that in Compass Point, Nassau. Back then, it was a song about a cowboy being hanged. It had a weird, stream of consciousness lyric. It talks about this hanging and it finishes up, 'When the rope hit the spot at the end of the drop the last thing he heard was her calling, "Hold on, I'm coming home.'" So it's about his relationship with a woman, in some way.

But on the new record, it's about Obama's drone warfare. The lyrics have been adapted to include the death of a specific Yemeni girl in a cruise missile attack. So the story is new, the ideas are new, but they all fit around the music of the song."
Roger Waters told Mojo the story behind the song:

"'The Most Beautiful Girl' had a life of its own. I had no idea what it was about, I just sort of liked the metre of some... (continua)

Perfect Sense

Carry the Earth

Carry the Earth
2018
The Long March

Il titolo della canzone è tratto da una poesia del leggendario poeta arabo Mahmoud Darwish – “the dead who die to carry the earth after the relics are gone”.

The track is called Carry the Earth and opens with the sound of the sea – it evokes Gaza, and has sounds representing drones.

“It’s a dedication to the four boys murdered on the beach in Gaza in 2014,” Adnan says. The album’s press notes add that it “is dedicated to those... (continua)

Supremacy

Supremacy
2018
testo di Mahmud Darwish
feat Roger Waters

(continua)
