لاش جلنے کی بو آ رہی ہے	It smells of burning bodies
زِندگی ہے کہ چِلّا رہی ہے	It is life that screams out
جانے والے سپاہی سے پوچھو	Ask the departing soldier
وہ کہاں جارہا ہے	Where he is going
کتنے سہمے ہوے ہیں نظارے	The vistas themselves are afraid
کیسا ڈر ڈر کے چلتے ہیں تارے	How frightened the stars proceed
کیا جوانی کا خوں ہورہا ہے	Such murder of youth
سرخ ہیں آنچلوں کے کِنارے	Red are the hems of veils
جانے والے سپاہی سے پوچھو	Ask the departing soldier
وہ کہاں جارہا ہے	Where he is going
گِر رہا ہے سِیاہی کا ڈیرا	The tent of darkness is falling
ہو رہا ہے مِری جاں سویرا	My dear, the dawn is coming
او وطن چھوڑ کر جانے والے	O you who have left the nation!
کُھل گیا انقلابی پھریرا	The revolutionary flag is unfurled
