Brenda
One day in September
a day like any other
the sky is blue
the sun is shining down.

But this is not another
day like any other
a taste of Hiroshima's
come to town.

They said it couldn't happen
and like fools we believed them
so easily our house of cards
fell down.

So how much else is hidden
behind the face of reason
to keep the wheel of vengeance
turning round?

And there are questions we must ask
there are things we need to know
like what kind of blindness masked
our eyes against the anger of the world?

So now there are more mothers
fathers, sisters, brothers
who won't be coming home
any more.

Just like in Rwanda
Palestine and Somalia
it's the innocents who pay the price
of war.

And there are questions we must ask
there are things we need to know
like what kind of blindness masked
our eyes against the anger of the world?
