Fraternitat

THE REPUBLICAN MOTTO

In the beginning, when the wild beast
Ruled over all with ferocity
A happy lark took wing
And that daring flight gave birth to liberty.

One day two children, safe in the cradle,
Two fruits of maternal honor
Laughed as their lips came together
And from the song of their embraces came fraternity.

When man has triumphed over every tyranny
The right clenched within his fist, holding on to truth
Forever removed from greedy ambition
We will see rise, gleaming like the sun, equality.
