Aleppo

Gareth Smit
Language: English

Falling into pieces
fall into the sea.
White horses are galloping in front of me.
We pause here for a moment to let them see
what happened when Aleppo fell, fell into the sea

Dreams may feel forlorn
as a cold wind rushes over the storm.
I fear no end in sight.
Ambiguous, what might seem right.

All I thought was love
turned out to be something else.
If what you feel is love,
then don’t let it turn into something else.

I saw it in a photo, I saw it on TV.
Ninety-thousand dead this year, I couldn't even breathe.
It shouldn’t even matter now, the world would not believe.
What happened when Aleppo fell, fell into the sea.
