Hymn to the World

Heikki Sarmanto
Language: English

Heikki Sarmanto

Will you take my hand, Brother
I offer with my love
and take my hand, Sister
and stand with me to sing?

We will sing as we sail
on this space ship called Earth,
our cradle sustaining us
from the day of birth.

We will sing together,
each in his own tongue,
but the song is the same
as it comes from ev'ry one.

It's a song of a new hope
for a time when we may share
a world with our children
that's peaceful ev'rywhere.

But our dream of world brotherhood
never will come true
unless we all start soon
to work for it, too,
and time for us is running out.

So my Sisters, my Brothers,
stand with us as we sing to say
you will bind yourselves here
in faith and love.

We will sing as we sail
on this space ship called Earth,
our cradle sustaining us
from the day of birth.

We will sing together,
each in his own tongue,
but the song is the same
as it comes from ev'ry one.

It's a song of a new hope
for a time when we may share
a world with our children
that's peaceful ev'rywhere.

But our dream of world brotherhood
never will come true
unless we all start soon
to work for it, too.
So take the hand I offer you
my pledge to work for brotherhood.
